It is unfortunate that recently in the Clarksville real estate market, some prospective renters are falling victim to internet scams like the one the newspaper recently reported. The “owner” was out of the country but asked that the security deposit be sent to his “attorney” and neither were who they said they were and needless to say, the money is long gone. Most likely, this situation is probably a case of “if it sounds too good to be true.....”

So, the first and most important thing you can do is to “Consider the Deal!” Can you really get a 2500 square foot brick home on three acres with three bedrooms, a bonus room, granite counters, a swimming pool, hot tub, etc....for only $700 per month? Really?

Use a Clarksville Tn Realtor or property management company to help you locate and secure a rental home. Many people aren't aware that they can save themselves countless hours browsing the internet or scouring through the paper when searching for a rental home. Most real estate companies have a property management company associated with them that manages homes and apartment buildings for absentee owners or investors. These companies specialize in getting tenants into homes and overseeing the rent payments and maintenance issues on a monthly basis.

If you are going to deal directly with the owner of a property NEVER give them funds for a deposit until you have seen the property, signed some form of agreement with the owner of the property, and have the keys to the property in your hand when you are done signing the lease.
Sure there are situations where time is simply not on your side and you have to rent a place without ever seeing it...if this is your situation, please call a Realtor and let them do their job.
